Thrive Navigation Foundation exists to reduce systemic barriers and strengthen long-term well-being for Black communities and other underserved populations through community navigation, education, prevention, and community-led solutions.
A future where communities are equipped with the knowledge, access, and support they need to thrive—where systems are understandable, help is reachable, and prevention is valued alongside care.
We envision a community where:
Thrive Navigation Foundation is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate essential services and overcome barriers to support. We work alongside underserved and racialized residents in Edmonton and surrounding communities to ensure they can access housing, health care, food security, income supports, and other vital social services.
Many individuals face challenges accessing support due to fragmented systems, cultural disconnect, limited information, or a lack of trusted guidance — often leaving people falling through the cracks. Thrive exists to bridge those gaps. We provide coordinated navigation, referral support, and consistent follow-up so that individuals are not left navigating complex systems alone.
Our work focuses on practical, person-centered support that helps individuals move through systems with clarity and confidence. We assist with housing applications, shelter access, income supports, food programs, and connections to community resources. For individuals experiencing housing instability or crisis, we help connect them to emergency shelters, transitional housing options, and appropriate community supports while working toward longer-term stability.
We also support access to health services by helping individuals connect with doctors, community clinics, and pharmacies; understand prescriptions and medication access; and coordinate referrals to appropriate health and social services. By guiding people through these systems step by step, we help reduce confusion, delays, and missed opportunities for support, ensuring individuals receive timely and coordinated care.
Grounded in prevention and early intervention, our approach strengthens stability before challenges escalate into crisis. We collaborate with community partners and service providers to improve referral pathways and ensure individuals receive the right support at the right time.
Thrive functions as a navigation hub — creating clarity, building trust, and helping people move forward with dignity and confidence.

Every person deserves respect and understanding.

Fair access and opportunities for all communities.

Knowledge empowers lasting change.

Together we achieve more.

Transparent and responsible in all we do.

Building solutions that last.
We address gaps in access and information that keep people from thriving. Our work shifts communities from crisis response to preparedness by building knowledge, connections, and confidence early. When people understand their options and can navigate systems effectively, they are better positioned to create stable, resilient futures for themselves and their families.

Early intervention through community education and stigma reduction to strengthen individual resilience, understanding, and well-being.

Strengthening community systems by amplifying Black-led and culturally responsive services, reducing duplication, and improving coordination across organizations.
Thrive Navigation Foundation was shaped by years of working alongside individuals and families navigating shelters, housing transitions, and community services across Edmonton.
In this work, we consistently saw people motivated to improve their circumstances, yet slowed or stalled by systems that were difficult to understand and hard to navigate. Critical information was often fragmented, eligibility unclear, and pathways between services poorly connected—especially at moments of transition.
Rather than creating new programs, we recognized a different need: clearer pathways, better coordination, and navigation support that respects people’s dignity and lived experience. Thrive Navigation Foundation emerged from this insight, with a focus on helping people move through existing systems more effectively and with greater confidence.
Our work is grounded in practical experience, collaboration with community organizations, and a commitment to strengthening access at the points where people are most likely to fall through the cracks. By improving navigation and coordination, we aim to support smoother transitions, reduce preventable delays, and contribute to stronger outcomes for individuals, families, and the broader community.
